OPEC head: no output cut needed if current prices remain NEW YORK, June 18 (Reuters) - U.S. crude oil futures ended higher on Thursday, as reassuring economic data on jobless benefit claims and regional manufacturing and a buoyant Wall Street combined to keep prices above $71 a barrel. After struggling for a decade on very limited spare capacity - when it was just averaging at about 2.7 million barrels per day, the demand slump of 2009 will significantly bring up that spare crude capacity to 6.4 million barrels per day; equivalent to roughly 8.0% of global oil demand.
