PC gamers may find one more reason to grumble about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as Infinity Ward has confirmed that the maximum number of players in the game's multiplayer mode has taken a hit from 32 to 18. A max of 18 players has been the norm for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of previous entries Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World At War, but it's considerably less than previous iterations for the PC. Infinity Ward's Mackey McCandlish and Vince Zampella confirmed that 9 versus 9 multiplayer battles would be the max going forward to the chagrin of a few PC gamers already feeling burned by the switch from dedicated servers to the IW.net service. [1] With people still up in arms about the lack of dedicated servers in the PC version of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," we spoke directly to Robert Bowling at Infinity Ward to get his final word on the matter. You can see his response above, but the general theme seems to be: Wait and see. It's the tone they've taken with just about everything since the game started leaking on the web about a week ago.[2]
While Infinity Ward continues its cone of silence on the PC dedicated server issue for Modern Warfare 2, its rival developer Digital Illusions continues to (indirectly) hammer on the fact that their upcoming shooter Battlefield Bad Company 2 will support such servers in their March 2010 game. The latest shot across the bow comes on the game's official blog site where they reproduce a fan letter from a gamer who sent in the $60 he would have spent on Modern Warfare 2.We are not quite sure why DICE continues to not name Infinity Ward or Modern Warfare 2 in these kinds of posts. Indeed they black out any mention of the game or developer in their reproduction of the fan's letter. It's pretty clear they are not talking about the lack of dedicated servers for Nancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly Academy.[3] Looks like DICE succeeded at winning over a few PC gamers. One such person named "Eddie J." has spoken for many others with his recent action; it borders on hilarious performance art, really. Eddie sent a letter and check for $60.00 USD to DICE headquarters in Stockholm, writing to the developers that he is just one of many irked at Infinity Ward's decisions. As such, he sends the money he would have spent on Modern Warfare 2 to DICE instead, since cake wouldn't do very well in transit between the United States and Sweden. The entire team of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 wants to thank Eddie J. for his letter and generous gift. It's moments like this that make all the late nights and weekends of crunching to make the best game possible all worth it. DICE also posted the letter, check, and envelop on their official blog.[4]
Some games are simply just built for the Xbox or Playstation and aren't going to work for the Wii. I think maybe, MAYBE Infinity Ward could change their minds if, say, they develop something specifically tailored to the Wii's standards, or if the Wii port of Modern Warfare is accepted well enough. Clearly, this is a company that wants to give an epic experience, with the best graphical capability possible, and the Wii just isn't going to fit their mold. J4K said: Darkflame said: Wouldn't it be great if developers care just as much about storytelling and gameplay as they do visuals? 99.99% of games fail to reach the "cinematic experience" of films 50 years ago, its nothing about processing power its about character depth, motivation, and trying to be at least vaguely unpredictable.[5] Game developer Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 2 helped launch Xbox 360 in 2005, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the first of the series not based in World War II, earned numerous Game of the Year awards and has sold more than 14 million copies. When NCIS writer and executive producer Jesse Stern first met with the studio's creative crew nearly three years ago, they impressed him with an animation of a nuclear explosion that became a major plot twist in Modern Warfare, then under development and Stern's first foray into games. "That was the first thing that really grabbed my attention. OK, this is the scale we are working with," says Stern, who helped fine-tune the near-future tale of international combat and political intrigue. "A lot of the contribution I think they expect from me, and I hope to give to the game, is making those moments have an emotional punch to them."[6]
Speaking to Develop, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has revealed that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer doesn't develop for the Wii because it currently feels that it can't deliver the same cinematic experience possible on other platforms.[7] The developer of Modern Warfare 2, when considering future projects, has some high standards that it seems the Wii can't quite reach. In the interview Bowling had this to say, "Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it." This may be disappointing to Wii owners. At least, it seems, Infinity Ward seem to have some hefty standards; kudos to that. Stop back in for updates as they become available.[8]
Maybe that's the underlying reason why Infinity Ward are so reluctant to waste huge amounts of cash on something that just won't sell well. Oh and the fact that the Wii's software market is a mess with good titles not selling (even Nintendohs) I think any publisher who wants to maintain their software's dignity has a right to be wary of publishing on Wii. Modern Warfare on DS was a horrible game period, so I won't be buying the sequel on that platform either unless they're revamped the game entirely.[9]
Hey, Infinity Ward, why no Modern Warfare 2 on Wii? It's the most popular home console, and the game is everywhere else, so why does Nintendo's white box o' waggle get Treyarch hand-me-downs instead of the biggest shooter of the year? According to the developer, the answer is simple: The Wii just can't do what Infinity Ward wants it to do.[10] Speaking with members of the Best Buy community, Infinity Ward developers Mackey McCandlish and Ryan Lastimosa have revealed that Modern Warfare 2 servers will be capped at 18 players on all formats. Talking to members of the community still angry about the omission of dedicated PC servers, the game makers hinted that nothing was off the cards, while affirming their faith in the IWnet system. "We feel the PC game is great in its current form.[11] A message prompting users to switch over to a game chat channel appears if someone attempts to play "CW2" online while in a party chat, according to screen cap posted on NeoGAF. Such a move would make sense in an effort to discourage cheating among players circumventing in-games channels of communication -- though such tactics can be executed just as easily using Skype, cell phones or virtually any other of out-of-game voice-chat platform. Online leaderboards, meanwhile, will reset when "CW2" hits stores in order to give consumers a common starting line with reviewers or developers to beef up their stats and scores. "It definitely looks like a full leaderboard level reset is in order just before the release date to ensure no unfair advantages," Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling announced from his Twitter account. There will undoubtedly be players who feel wronged by both of these moves, but overall they seem to be easier cases to make to the general population than the abolishment of dedicated servers. In retrospect it's probably good that they got that one out of the way first.[12] When Infinity Ward announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would not have dedicated server support there was a huge backlash from the gaming community. It looks like one gamer is showing his appreciation to DICE for supporting dedicated servers with money.[13] A new post on the official Battlefield: Bad Company 2 blog displays a letter sent in by a gamer showing some love for DICE, an EA owned studio. It looks like DICE blacked out some key words in the letter such as: '''Infinity Ward''' and '''COD:MW2.''' The gamer felt so strongly against Infinity Ward'''s actions he sent in $60, the amount he would have spent on buying Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, made out to DICE. Even though $60 is a small amount, this letter is definitely makes a strong statement.[13]
Bowling also suggested that Infinity Ward could work on new IP after the release of Modern Warfare 2, though at the same time insisted that the studio was still enjoying making Call of Duty games.[14] All that Infinity Ward has released is that it is an independent mission's mode with various objectives. "The best thing has done with this game, especially with the Ops mode, is not releasing too much information," said long time Call of Duty fan Travis Johnston. Since this game is going to be in such a high demand, GameStop is still in the process of planning their midnight release. They are trying to make it a big local event for college students. They are working on getting local businesses to sponsor the event with prizes, catering and even getting people from the military to attend. Leland said that he could not give away the exact number of pre-orders that they have gotten for Modern warfare 2, but it is a large amount. Both the GameStop's in Christiansburg and most of them throughout the country will be holding some sort of midnight release event. According to a Best Buy manager, they are trying to attract even more college students by hosting a Modern Warfare 2 tournament the night of the release. Video game enthusiast Lance Showman said he will definitely be at one of the midnight release because he cannot wait for this game.[15] GameStop has already said that Activision and Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 is the most pre-ordered game ever, but more than that, GameStop VP of Merchandising and Marketing Tony Bartel has told IGN that it will be the highest selling game in the retailer's history. "This will absolutely be the highest selling game in GameStop history," he said. "We know that because our pre-orders are so strong on this game." "Just to put it in perspective," he added, "if you took all the Call of Duty: World at War titles that were sold in the first month worldwide, we have more pre-orders than that number just for GameStop this time around." Everyone's Favorite Analyst, Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan, has said recently stated that he thought the game could reach sales of $500 million with as many as 10 million copies moved in the fourth quarter alone.[16]
Hans Zimmer, soundtrack composer on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has spoken of the game's "emotional darkness." In an interview with USA Today, Zimmer revealed that he believes Infinity Ward is pushing the boundaries of game narrative with Modern Warfare 2. "What makes it really interesting is that it has an emotional darkness to it where sometimes you go, 'I just can't believe they are going to do this now' and then they do it," said Zimmer when asked about which locales might feature in the game.[17] Bowling also hinted that the studio could work on an original IP after Modern Warfare 2 -- but that doesn't mean Infinity Ward is done with Call of Duty games.[18] Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 6 months then you'll be aware that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is almost upon us, with everyone and their auntie getting unreasonably excited about the prospect of blowing up generic bad guys and making tiresome "RAT-A-TAT-TAT" noises under their breath. Wii owners are getting a port of the previous Modern Warfare to ensure they don't feel left out, but Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling doesn't expect the company's dalliance with the platform to go much further than that; Nintendo's machine just doesn't cut the mustard when it comes to raw power.[9] An Infinity Ward spokesperson has claimed that the Nintendo Wii is incapable of delivering the "cinematic experience" required for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.[19] It's also worth noting that this shouldn't be taken as an antiNintendo stance, as within the same statement he said they would be perfectly happy to move to whatever platform has specifications that match up to what they feel they would need to create a decent experience. Therefore releases on a future Nintendo console are not being ruled out. I'm not sure I entirely agree about cinematic experiences not being possible on Wii (it's not as obvious a thing as on the HD systems, but with effort it could be done we managed with consoles weaker the past generations, didn't we?), but I can definitely understand and respect Infinity Ward's standpoint. There's no benefit for them working on Wii, stretching their resources, when they're doing perfectly well on 360/PS3/PC and can allow Wii Call of Duty development to be carried out by Treyarch. I don't think its a bad thing for Infinity Ward to say no to the Wii. Adding onto this, when a filmmaker DOES decide to go black and white, it's usually because that specific format works best for that particular film. As such, there are certain games that have qualities which make the Wii perfect for them, in terms of the Wii's technical capability or the motion controls; The Conduit, for example, wouldn't work as well on the Xbox as it does on the wii, and some games, like rail shooters, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime etc. either wouldn't work as well or wouldn't work at all on other systems. It goes both ways.[5] The Wii doesn't offer anything over the competition in terms of providing a cinematic experience, it only lowers the bar. You're taking it completely out of context. Didn't you even see my first post? He didn't say they couldn't, they specifically chose not to! It doesn't suit their vision. but it's a shame seeing dev's that don';t wanna do something and simply state that the platform can't do it. It's also a shame that people think IW actually said that. When they didn't say anything of the sort. :/ He didn't say it couldn't be done on Wii, he said they wanted to develop the same game equally across multiple platforms. The Wii just misses out seeing as it's so different to develop for. Read: We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it. Andrezao said: So how could this company survive before the HD consoles came out? They didn't exist? There's plenty of games that give you a cinematic experience, TP does it, RE4 Does it.[5] Plus didn't CoD5 sell heaps on the Wii? I thought I saw that somewhere. Anyways it's not entirely a negative comment, we all know the Wii is less powerful, but he should not state it like it can't be done. It very well can be done if they put some effort and move beyond the millions of Poly's and Pixels. CoD is a huge series, if RE4 managed to sell 1m copies, this could do the same or better with some ads. If they don't wanna do it fine, if I wanted it, I could get it on my PC but the CoD Series for me is very shallow, short and boring, hence why I gave away my CoD 4 copy. I would not be a buyer regardless of the system, but it's a shame seeing dev's that don';t wanna do something and simply state that the platform can't do it. How could this company survive before the HD consoles came out? They didn't exist? There's plenty of games that give you a cinematic experience, TP does it, RE4 Does it. OH WAIT! They're GC games, what was I thinking?? The Wii is just more powerful than it, so of course it can't be done Riiiight? Damn they shoulda told me earlier I was living a lie thinking that SMG, MP series, Madworld and such were giving me a "cinematic" experience. Pffft it's just Lazy devs. They just gotta work on the Wii's Strengths rather than trying to make it like on the other consoles.[5]
As most of you will be aware, the port of the original Modern Warfare is being handled by Treyarch and is due to release on the Wii the same time MW2 hits consoles. When taking about the Wii version though, he stated: "Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it." What are your thoughts on this? You kind of expected this anyway Wii owners, be honest.[20] "Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it." He also mentioned that no decision has been made about what the studio will do once Modern Warfare 2 is completed. "Once this is done, maybe we'll see about doing something new. If we do want to do something else, then we will do it," he continued.[21]
Don't hold your breath waiting for Modern Warfare 2 to show up on the Wii: Infinity Ward says Nintendo's console just doesn't have the stones to deliver the gameplay experience it wants to create.[21] I agree with the Infinity Ward statement that the Wii isn't best suited for ultra-realistic games like Modern Warfare, but this article's skewed headline is pretty crap.[10] Whether Activision has a studio like Treyarch do a Wii port of Modern Warfare 2 remains to be seen, but developer Infinity Ward doesn't seem interested in putting out Wii titles for future titles.[18] Nobody knows whether Activision will eventually have someone work up a Wii version of Modern Warfare 2 (the Wii edition of the original, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, doesn't come out until November 10) but one thing is certain: If it does happen, Infinity Ward won't have anything to do with it.[21] Infinity Ward has been developing the game since the prequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, came out in 2007.[15] Infinity Ward has released a new trailer in preparation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's launch come this Tuesday, November 10. It's appropriately titled as well, dubbed the "Red Carpet" trailer; it recaps all the previous trailers we've seen so far into one big, five-minute long clip. Remember, it's in stores on Tuesday for PS3, 360 and PC.[22] Infinity Ward'''s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the gripping and heart-racing action as players face off against a new threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse.[23] '''Modern Warfare 2''' is the direct followup to Infinity Ward'''s 2007 first person shooter masterpiece '''Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.''' It will put players in the boots of several soldiers involved in the fight against a terrorist regime inspired by today'''s headlines.[24]
Earlier this year, it seemed like Infinity Ward wanted to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 without the Call of Duty prefix.[25] With Infinity Ward dropping Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in stores next week, we're winding down the marketing hype machine, presumably wrapping things up with this final "launch" trailer that premiered this evening on Spike TV and Comedy Central.[26]
"By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of 2009, as well as the biggest video game launch in GameStop's history," GameStop merchandising and marketing EVP Tony Bartel said in a statement to media outlets. Bartel makes his prediction based partially on preorders -- MW2 is enjoying the largest number of preorders across its 6,200-store network for any title GameStop has ever offered for sale. The other portion of the estimate comes from modeling on the previous title in the series: Call of Duty: World at War reportedly sold 2 million units in its first month on sale, and over 1 million monthly thereafter.[27] Halo was part of video games as basic pointless activity, as time-waster rather than hobby. Then "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" kicked Halo out on its ass with snappy, high-octane gunplay and instantly accessible experience system.[28] The game is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and it will be hitting the shelves at midnight on Nov. 10. Both GameStop locations and the Best Buy in Christiansburg will hold festivities for the release of Modern Warfare 2 on Nov. 10. GameStop game adviser Jared Leland said he expects this to be one of the biggest video game releases of all time, even bigger than the highly anticipated Halo 3 was back in 2008.[15]
While at times the narrative of the first Modern Warfare seemed to question the player's motivation and the morality of armed conflict, Modern Warfare 2 has already stirred controversy with the leaked video of a level from the game in which the main character, usually a member of the American forces, actively takes part in terrorist activities whilst operating undercover. It was also the most wanted game amongst 11 to 17-year-old males in a recent survey by U.S. videogame retailer Game Crazy, though the game itself is rated 'Mature' in the U.S., making it appropriate for distribution only to those 17 and over (the European rating is generally over 18s only). There has been some upset amongst PC gamers over the announcement that the online component of the game will be hosted using a more console-style of automatic matchmaking, whereas one of the usual distinctions between PC and console games is that PC users have access to deeper customization options, even including which specific game host or'server' they want to use. Typically, PC gamers are able to select their favorite server, and communities focused around those servers grow as friendships are made, so removing the server selection option has been unpopular.[29] This is all you need to know: World at War PC - 32v32 Modern Warfare 2 PC - 9v9 Since it's a console port, essentially, just buy the console version this time around. As far as the PC GAMERS ARE PIRATES LOL argument goes: I know for a fact that there's a ton of people in this community that pirate 360 games. It works both ways.[30]
We draw lines." In another part to the interview, Bowling notes IW rejected Activision's proposal for what he calls a ridiculously high budget for the upcoming shooter, saying they "didn't need that" and "we would only put stuff in the game that is right for the game, and not because we can." Though drawing much ire from PC gamers for dropping dedicated server support on Modern Warfare 2, the developer has definitely retained some respect with us following these comments.[31] Coming in the wake of the Great Dedicated Server Controversy of Ought-Nine, Infinity Ward has announced another bit of Modern Warfare 2 news that might rile devoted PC gamers.[32] PC gamers already hopping mad at Infinity Ward over the lack of dedicated servers in Modern Warfare 2 might want to skip this story.[30]
Infinity Ward pissed gamers off in October when they announced their decision (or Activision's) to pull client-side dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2, cutting mod support in the process -- all in favor of running things more tightly with their own matchmaking services. Why? Well, according to IW creative strategist Robert Bowling, it's all for the gamers, as this makes Modern Warfare 2 more accessible to a wider audience. Following that, DICE producer Gordon Van Dyke responded in a more positive light and noted their upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will still continue supporting dedicated servers, basically reasoning that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You know, so their customers (the gamers) don't get pissed.[4]
"Modern Warfare 2" is all set to continue publisher Activision's money-printing dynasty; current sales predictions suggest that even people without game consoles will want the game, because the disc is delicious fried in butter. Aside from the small, shrieking PC minority (Dedicated servers! Give us liberty or give us blue screens of death! We're a hopelessly obsolete market demographic!), everyone will have a copy, and nobody will be doing their homework. With this kind of cultural visibility, we could expect Activision and Infinity Ward to play nice with our tender public sensibilities.[28] Nobody designs games for PC gamers anymore. It's more of an afterthought now, another grab for more money easily. To be fair we brought it on ourselves, whether you pirate games or not the community has done this to itself. Still I wish Infinity Ward didnt pretend that they cared while they hoped we were too stupid not to figure out their ruse. I wish they just did what most companies did, drop the PC title and force everyone to buy a console version. Most people will for a title like this anyways.[32] "Or perhaps Infinity Ward know most PC gamers would pirate it anyway, so don't feel the need to win their loyalty?" Sad thing since Call of Duty recived a LOT of support when it was a PC-only tittle inclusive. By this time there are a lot of people who have downloaded the game illegaly in the 360 and already beated it so, what's next?, don't give a shit about the Xbox too?[30] An online chat sponsored by Best Buy with members of the development team had tons of PC-related questions from fans. Infinity Ward members would not comment if dedicated servers might return in a future patch for the game nor would they comment on if mod tools for the PC version would be released. They did confirm that the upper limit for multiplayer games in the PC version will be 18 players, far less than the 32 player support PC owners of previous Call of Duty games are used to.[3] Infinity Ward only developed the first three versions, however; Aspyr took care of the Mac port of the game while Infinity Ward's Call of Duty alter-egos at Treyarch are handling the Wii conversion.[21]
SuperDarkLink said: Darkflame said: Ive got nothing against Infinity Ward here, but I do hate the general obsession in the industry of making stuff (look) like blockbuster action flicks all the time. Aside from motion control, what would IW gain from making Wii games? The PS360 have had tons of great shooters this gen. Since when can IW only make a Wii game with emotion, and not on the other consoles? On PS360, IW can make bigger games, sell them to bigger audiences, and of course the online mode everyone loves so much about the series. IW have no incentive to work on the Wii; why should they if they can release a game that is just as good on a more powerful platform? Haven't you worked out that DarkFlame has blinders on to sanity when it comes to anything that's remotely "anti Nintendo"? And this isn't even anti Nintendo particularly. He's getting worse it seems. He ignores the fact that Pixar and Ghilbi films are visually stunning.[5] '''As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we'''ve taken for the game is the highest for any title we'''ve ever sold in our 6,200 store network.''' Those high marks for the 360, PC and PS3 don't mean that Infinity Ward is considering a port to the Wii any time soon, however, since the studio doesn't think that Nintendo's console can do what they need.[33] Lets look at the maps. When you get a full roster of players on Dome, it's a frikkin madhouse that only gets worse if an artillery strike is going off on the balcony. Map size goes a long way towards making things 'just right' in terms of a multiplayer game, and if Infinity Ward doesn't want to invest the time to build a specific set of maps exclusively for the PC players so they can have their larger games, I think they are perfectly within their rights to not do that.[32]
I think IW are making the right move, who wants a cut down game with all of the good bits taken out, hence WaW which why it lost: Split Screen Multiplayer Vehicles online (i.e. tanks, planes) S&D, Mercenary, HQ, War, Domination, CTF modes, etc. Zombie Modes (along with the Ray Gun) Hell Cats level in campaign mode Flash Grenades and Shades Perk 16 Player online (Down to 8) Sure it was ok, But all of the stuff that people talked about, was cut out of the wii version and that wasn't even IW doing!(they didn't dev it) Thanks but no thanks. I want a propper game and IW coming to this decision is good. They are well respected for good Call of Duty games, and if they started making cut after cut just to make it work on the wii, it would remove the heart from the game.[5] Thanks but no thanks. I want a propper game and IW coming to this decision is good. They are well respected for good Call of Duty games, and if they started making cut after cut just to make it work on the wii, it would remove the heart from the game Theres no point in trying to develop a game if it's going to be half assed. IW are some of those rare developers that put as much as possible into long running franchises instead of realing them off in their masses. If they tried to make a Wii version as well as the PS360 version, I'm sure that the end result wouldn't be as good all round. Sure it's a business, but I think their statements above are highly valid.[5]
The developer went on to say that "We don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing." This is interesting to say the least, as Call of DUty is a huge game for the video game industry. Share and Enjoy: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages.[34] I want a "good video game experience". That said, it's no secret that Wii is underpowered. The console still has good games to enjoy, but it's easy to understand why developers who rely on graphics and/or movie-like narrative to make their games worth playing might choose to avoid it.[10] I honestly think that's a crap excuse for these games not coming to Wii because imo any of the Halo games that came out on the last gen Xbox are easily as cinematic, dramatic, fun, polished and whatever else COD:MW 1/2 is imo (ignoring the obvious increase in graphic fidelity), and the Wii can at least match those games, so I really don't see their point here. Basically all I'm hearing is that if it's not cutting edge graphics they don't rate it but that to me says they think its all just the graphics that makes a great experience but that is not really true and in any case the Wii is powerful enough to do graphics that can still look good and create any kind of dramatic tension and so on.[9] I think the Wii can deliver a "cinematic experience" (whatever that means really). That isn't what Bowling said here. If you've ever been involved with making a game on the Wii you will know how limiting it can be, especially with its lack of processing/RAM. MW2 seems to be going for a very realistic, intense experience, which really is helped by clean, photo-realistic images and the ability to throw a ton of things on-screen at once, something the Wii cannot handle well. That said, a great game of cinematic quality could be done on the Wii if it took advantage of the things that the system is capable of. That doesn't guarantee sales, but there are a few games around the band on Wii that do have me curious about its future. It isn't what you use to paint on the canvas, it's the idea behind it that is most important.[10]
I would rather play it with even worse graphics than what the Wii can deliver on a 4 year old PC and still have the same experience as everyone else (albeit with worse graphics) but have the same gameplay, fun and satisfaction. If people are still annoyed, you brought the wrong console, go exchange it for a PC/XBOX/PS3 and have your fun with it, instead of hiding behind this "It's the gameplay that matters not the graphics" Facade, then bitching about every single game that doesn't make it to Wii. You made your choice now deal with it. ( Edited 04.11.2009 21:48 by Freakishly AWESOME ) It's dangerous to go it alone. Take these.[5] From the characters actions, to the settings and the dramatisation of the whole game. No doubt IW could pull it off on the wii, it's whether they have the finances and the disposition to do it as it would devote time and manual labour from other areas. Maybe they might do it with the release of MW3 :P And calling IW/MW graphics whores is a bit harsh. Have you seen the minimum specs (PC) to play MW2? "3.2GHz Intel Pentium IV, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ or equivalent 1GB RAM 12GB HDD Space 256MB nVidia GeForce 6600GT, ATi Radeon 1600XT or equivalent DirectX 9.0c compatible Sound Card DirectX 9.0c DVDROM Drive Broadband Internet connection required for multiplayer and product activation" (Source: Play.com) Thats practically the same specs as the last one, A 4 YEAR OLD PC can play that (considering that ATI is now on 5 series, and Nvidia is 9/2 series)whereas games such as Mirrors Edge, Mass Effect, Dead Space etc etc require a much more updated system with a shader model 3/Direct x (9 is optional but 10 for best experience)/2GB ram and intel core 2 duo to even begin to play the game decently. They are giving the people with out dated systemes the ability to play this game which is good in anyones book (Most of people here can probably play it on their computers and laptops even with inegrated graphics cards).[5]
People who have a Wii and not the other systems will gladly take a slight hit to visuals over never getting to play a good game at all. I don't think this guy is talking about shallow graphics, but rather the ability to use graphics to better convey the experience of the game. He talks about graphics as an aspect, not a focal point. I think what he says is pretty fair.[5] Hasn't every video game console ever catered to childish man-fantasies? Then if I can (1) Shoot Zombies on it, (2) violate my enemies by shoving a chainsaw up their ass and (3) other people are making cinematic games for it - I think its safe to say it can have a cinematic game experience. Man, a game where all that matters to people is online play, calling each other faggots and rage-quitting when they lose - yeah, really manly and real cinematic.[10] I want a "good video game experience". I don't have a Wii, but they clearly have some of the best games of this gen. Even if they aren't "cinematic".[10] Hell look at Ninja Gaiden NES that was 2d and yet had a real "cinematic experience" FF6 was good in SD, TS2 was good in SD, TS3 was good in SD, COD2 was good in SD. Heck I can make a true cinematic experience on a wii game very easy, you just need to be smart and use the RULE OF THIRDS with your camera angles.[10] Give me a game with 1/100th the emotional value of a Pixar film, or the epicness and depth of a Ghibli one over one that looks like a realistic but lacks decent characters any day. Or better yet, stop trying to emulate other mediums autogether. You're entirely missing the point of what he's saying. Absolutely its possible to make cinematic experiences on the Wii.[5] I'm not gonna come down on either side of the "should mature games be on Wii" argument right now, but I do want to point out that Resident Evil 4 on GameCube proves comments like "Wii can't deiliver a cinematic experience" are pretty much complete nonsense. It's simply that no-one's actively trying to do it. It can be done.[10]
Then HD-Ready -consoles would suck even worse, when compared to PC(For couple hundred dllrrs's you could upgrade your PC with a GPU, that has bigger muscles alone than PS3's even theoretical combined maximum performance). They don't suck, but as important as it is, processing power doesn't make cinematic experience as much as the budget does! Putting SO much emphasis into processing power, and forgetting that Wii has next gen controllers, very suitable for this genre, only highlights HD-Ready -consoles weaknesses. At least in this genre, the Wii has strengths that makes it very interesting alternative experience to HD-ready -consoles rather homogenous library, full of 1st party shooters. Or would make, if there was games that took it seriously, MW 4 Reflex is made by 20 people.[9] In a recent interview, Infinity Ward'''s Robert Bowling explained that the Wii'''s relatively underpowered innards in comparison to the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 make it impossible to replicate '''the cinematic experience''' across all platforms.[35] Infinity Ward has ruled out developing on Nintendo's Wii after explaining that the platform can't deliver on its goals. Speaking to Develop Magazine, community manager Robert Bowling revealed that the studio's overall goal is to emulate the cinematic experience, and unfortunately the Wii's specs can't meet this expectation.[5] As part of a wider interview with Develop, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling implied that the Wii's humble hardware specs are at odds with the studio's aim to deliver cinematic experiences.[14]
"If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform," explains Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling.[10]
Following a recent interview with Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, it has been revealed that the Nintendo Wii would be unable to deliver the exact experience as seen on the PS3 or Xbox 360 - potentially destroying any hopes Wii owners had on a port sometime in the future.[20]
Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling took part in an interview that was reported on by Eurogamer.com. What he stated was that the Nintendo Wii simply could not handle the game. He stated that they do not think that the Wii can handle what they want to do with the game.[34] EdEN said: Nope, sorry, that's pure bull. If CoD:World at War could be delivered on Wii, this is just Infinity Ward being lazy ass graphics whores. That's not the point. It can be delivered on Wii, they would just rather make their games simultaniously. Developing a Wii version would interrupt their concentration of the multiconsole version.[5] We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it'''s not equal then we won'''t do it." We've already come to terms with the harrowing truth that the Wii version of Modern Warface isn't going to be an exact copy of the 360 and PS3 editions, so such opinions are hardly a shock. It would be nice to see MW2 at some point, so it's a shame that Infinity Ward currently seems to be so down on the idea.[9] We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it'''s not equal then we won'''t do it." That doesn't mean the Wii won't be a late afterthought, though, as a Treyarch-ported version of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" is scheduled to come out on November 10, the same day as "MW2."[33] To round off Modern Warfare 2's utter domination of the week's releases, there is also a companion game for the Nintendo DS called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized ($29.99 / €39.99), and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex on the Wii ($49.99 / €49.99), which is a Wii-specific conversion of 2007's Modern Warfare.[29]
Out next week for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs, action game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (rated M for ages 17-up; $60-up) could set first-day and first-week sales records for the industry.[6] As if you needed reminding, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases over the week of November 10th (next week!) across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.[36]
Whereas multiplayer sessions in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare allowed up to 32 players on the PC, Modern Warfare 2's player cap will be reduced to 18, with 9-vs-9 matches just like the console versions.[32] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by Activision for PC is a combat FPS and the sixth game in the Call of Duty series.[37] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter video game. It is the sixth installment of the Call of Duty series and the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, continuing along the same storyline.[23] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: U.S. troops track the combat via computer in the new video game.[6]
Still sensitive about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 spoilers? Then this explosive new trailer for the game might not be for you.[38]
The cinematic feel of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 helps keep the pace of the action under control and makes the movement from one part of the game to anther seem smooth and natural. Usually the storeys supporting first person shooters such as this aren'''t what you would call awe-inspiring however with Modern Warfare 2 we find a surprisingly in-depth storey line.[39] I won'''t spool the game too much by going into further detail but I can say with out a shadow of a doubt that the gameplay in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is pretty much as close to perfect as a first person shooter can achieve.[39]
Due to the outstanding success of Call of Duty 4 and the devoted following it now has, game sales of Modern Warfare 2 are practically guaranteed over the next few months and even years, and so the choice most fans will face comes down to which retail version to purchase.[29] Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be the biggest game of the year on any platform, and is set for a very high-profile release next week.[34] Perhaps the most anticipated cross-platform game of 2009, the follow-up to 2007's Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. That game sold over 13 million copies, picked up multiple industry awards, and has been in such demand that few retailers have needed to drop its price by more than a few dollars or euros in order to maintain interest in the two years since.[29] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 takes place five years after the events of the original game with the world in a state of turmoil and on the steady path to World War 3.[39]
"By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time," says Tony Bartel, executive vice president for merchandising and marketing at GameStop. "As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."[40] Speaking to USA Today's Game Hunters blog, GameStop's executive vice president for merchandising and marketing Tony Bartel revealed that next week's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be a record-breaking one for his company, stating "the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."[41]
GRAPHICS: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 uses the proprietary IW 4.0 engine which is the same as in the previous game with some minor improvements.[39] CONCLUSION: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 takes what the original game did so brilliantly and improves on it in pretty much every single aspect.[39]
With the release of Modern Warfare 2 pegged at less than one week away, we're ready to call this new video the "launch trailer" for the game, even if it's not officially dubbed it.[42] For the time being, we'll leave Bartel's statement that Modern Warfare 2 will be "the biggest entertainment launch of all time" alone--the scale of video game prices against other forms of media make that a bit tough to compare anyway. Figuring out that it's the most reserved game of all time, you'll not that the planets have pretty much aligned in order for Modern Warfare 2 to perform this achievement.[41] Ars decided to get the opinion of someone with a unique perspective: a former U.S. Marine. Timothy Bertram spent more than a decade in the U.S. Marine Corps, while his son, David, just finished up a six-year stint, which included two combat tours in Iraq. Both are avid gamers, playing everything from real-time strategy games to first-person shooters. They are currently playing Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising which Timothy claims is the most realistic FPS he has ever playedand both have the prestige edition of Modern Warfare 2 on pre-order. "In the real world is this far fetched?" he explained, "No, not at all." "The question is," he continued, "just because that is the way it is, do we need that in a video game? I don't think so. In my opinion it dumbs down the absolute horror and viciousness of these tactics, and glorifies the acts.[43]
"We don't make gory games. It's not that we can't, but it's not the experience we go for." Over the lifespan of this game's development, tons of news has broken through Bowling over Twitter, so it's no surprise that channel has affected the arc of Modern Warfare 2, prerelease. It shows Twitter's not just a pass-through for trivia or hype, as some might dismiss it, but a useful way for both sides to stay in touch.[44]
A while ago, when PC gamers were given the news that there would not be dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2, all hell broke loose in the entire platform's fan base. This time it looks like everyone is taking a hit, though, with the announcement that servers will max out with 9v9 matches, on all platforms.[45] It is unfortunate the Activision is not listening to their customers. Over 181,000 PC gamers have signed a petition asking Infinity Ward to reverse it's decision on how the game will handle Multiplayer game play, i.e. Dedicated Game Servers in data centers. The PC community is in an uproar and the majority of PC gamers are intending to boycott this release.[46] I can't help but start thinking that Infinity Ward want MW2 to fail on the PC so they can justify not bothering with PC development anymore. As a legit PC gamer who always buys the games I want to play this pains me.[30]
Before you grab your pitchforks, Infinity Ward does have a reason for the decision: "The max number of players on all platforms are 1v1 through 9v9. This is the number of players we focused on when we were balancing map size, perks, classes, challenges, etc.," explained developer Mackey McCandlish in a Best Buy live chat session ( via Kotaku). In other words, rather than potentially upset the balance by artificially inflating the cap just because they can (and they probably could have), they chose instead to preserve the balance they were going for in designing every other portion of the multiplayer experience. Whether that explanation will be enough for PC gamers who thought they were getting bigger multiplayer sessions than their console friends, though, will remain to be seen.[32] When asked about the 178,000 signatures requesting PC dedicated servers while partaking in a BestBuy.com community live chat, Infinity Ward's Mackey McAndlish simply responded "All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience.[45]
As a person who mainly plays games on consoles, I used to despise the holier-then-thou, snotty, pompous attitudes of PC gamers. After looking at people's reactions over this no dedicated server mess, I'm now somewhat in agreement with them: many console gamers are obnoxious fucking retards.[32] No one can stop that. By saying that some of those signatures aren't legit and don't prove to be a real voice? Mackey McAndlish I always buy two copies of your games - A console version to play with my friends that don't play PC Games and then the PC Version to play on Dedicated Servers. By your remarks and IW's treatment of all of this.[30]
I am boycotting the PC version, as my gaming PC far outperforms my PS3 (or a 360 for that matter) and when COD4 and WaW were released, my old PC wouldn't cut the mustard, so PS3 was the only way for me to go at the time. Having a nice gaming PC, I would not purchase this game for a console, its cheaper for PC, and KBM is the best way to play any FPS, imo.[13]
Pissing off PC gamers and wii gamers in the same week really is not a good business strategy. I think the only ones happy about this game will be Ps3 and 360 owners.[30] I think a lot of games don't work too well on the Wii for the exact same reason. I actually read somewhere that Wii sales are really starting to drop. Either just about everyone has a Wii or people are realizing there isn't much to them. You don't have to be a serious game to go for PS3 or Xsux, I think a lot of casual gamers can see that these two systems are better then the Wii. Oddly enough, I think a Wii style controller for this type of game might be really interesting.[35]
Read: We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it.[5] What if a game you were looking forward to, say Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 was to come out on your Xbox 360 but look and play exactly like the Wii version instead of being taylored to each platform.[32] I don't remember anyone ever claiming that the Wii version of any other game would provide the exact experience of the PS3 or Xbox 360. They are different consoles.[20] Andrezao said: So how could this company survive before the HD consoles came out? They didn't exist? There's plenty of games that give you a cinematic experience, TP does it, RE4 Does it. OH WAIT! They're GC games, what was I thinking?? The Wii is just more powerful than it, so of course it can't be done Riiiight? You act as if gaming doesn't evolve, and that the developers shouldn't want to evolve with it.[5] As gaming standards in cinematic experiences rise, so do the standards of the developers. Damn they shoulda told me earlier I was living a lie thinking that SMG, MP series, Madworld and such were giving me a "cinematic" experience. Pffft it's just Lazy devs. Who said the Wii can't do a cinematic experience? Noone did, the other systems just give developers a higher scope for that experience. They just gotta work on the Wii's Strengths rather than trying to make it like on the other consoles.[5]
Well, I completely like their statement. At least these people develop a vision and stick to it, whatever the conditions of them are. It rules out the wii, because part of their vision is tied to the cinematic experience.[5]
Give me a game with 1/100th the emotional value of a Pixar film, or the epicness and depth of a Ghibli one over one that looks like a realistic but lacks decent characters any day. Or better yet, stop trying to emulate other mediums autogether. Wouldn't it be great if developers care just as much about storytelling and gameplay as they do visuals? 99.99% of games fail to reach the "cinematic experience" of films 50 years ago, its nothing about processing power its about character depth, motivation, and trying to be at least vaguely unpredictable.[5]
Call Of Duty, I had some great memories. It looks like I'll be playing L4D2. I bought a 4 pack to share with friends so they won't be buying MW2 Either. GOOD GAME IW. tl;dr Thank you Jim For bringing these quotes to press.[30] Talk a bit about the characters in the game. The coolest thing about the characters in these games is how they manage to stay alive, realistically or metaphorically. A version of Captain Price was fighting in World War 2 (in earlier Call of Duty games) and he was in the last game and I've seen a bunch of rumors that I have been entertained by that Gaz somehow survived the previous game and is back in a different incarnation in this game. (New MW2 character) Ghost is a personal favorite of mine in this game. He has the coolest face mask in this game. The characters tend to tend to take on a life of their own. About ( MW main character) Soap (MacTavish), seeing him go from basically being you in the first game with you playing as him, now he moves around in front of you (in MW2 ). I think two or three times when we were testing out levels, I said, 'That guy is cool. Who is he?' 'That is Soap,' someone said. I wasn't picturing him as being so cool, because I was picturing (Soap as) myself.[47] Bowling also had hopes for creating a new IP at somepoint, but for now Infinity Ward is stuck firmly making Call of Duty games.[5] "We don't feel tied to making Call of Duty games." Infinity Ward, Bowling says, makes Call of Duty games because the studio has fun doing them.[18]
Infinity Ward has a lot to be happy about one week before the " Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 " in-store date.[33] Infinity Ward has taken bold steps to curb illicit activities surrounding " Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," which makes its retail shelf debut in just over a week.[12]
Right now we wanted to make a sequel, so the entire team is hands on deck for making Modern Warfare 2," Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling told Develop in an interview. "Then once this is done, maybe we'll see about doing something new.[25] If you're wondering about the image above, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has tweeted (via VG247 ) that Modern Warfare 2 -themed''Avatar gear will be available on Xbox Live from tomorrow the Ghost outfit above is just one example of what will no doubt be a real money-spinner.[48]
"Recently we launched our new Infinity Ward website, and we were going to send a mass newsletter out to everybody. It was suggested that we should send in the newsletter a note to pre-order the strategy guide for Modern Warfare 2.[31] Still. The press release also says "you won't want to miss this one," hopefully hinting at Infinity Ward finally revealing the super secret perks of Modern Warfare 2 that were "supposedly" scraped.[49]
"There seems to be a double standard in the gaming industry in regards to things allowed, or accepted into many games. For example: name me a modern WWII FPS, or RTS for that matter, that has the German Forces using the swastika? They don't do that, they use the standard German Cross on flags and vehicles. For its part, developer Infinity Ward has refused to comment on the leak, saying that the scenario is being judged out of context.[43] Twitter has apparently helped Infinity Ward keep in touch with the media and fans, as well as being useful as a platform for sounding out ideas surrounding the game.[50]
During development, if we are sitting in a design meeting and we are arguing about something, no matter what it is I can just turn to what is now 60,000 people and post the same question. Do we think will players like this? Well why don't we ask 60,000 of them and get a good representation of what we think they may like. Twitter has been fantastic throughout development, and I would recommend many, many more people adapted that into their design schedule. It's not a carte-blanche relationship the feedback Bowling pulls from Twitter must fit with Infinity Ward's design philosophy. "Typically stuff like: '''we want more gore.' That's against our design philosophy," he says.[44] The new Red steel 2 is coming out and it will have Infinity ward Kicking themselves in the arse for not releasing it. I bet there are some back deals between Developers, Microsoft, and Sony to help curb Steam train that is the WII. Since both Sony and Microsoft are coming out with "WII" like controls, they want to try and get rid of their main competition.[35] Wii can't deliver? More like IW can't deliver. 9 v 9 maximum multiplayer is a JOKE, Infinity Ward.[18]
Not specifically because of Infinity Ward, but because of all the great games that aren't on the Wii.[10] No surprise really Infinity Ward said at the beginning of the year they had no interest developing Call of Duty titles on the Wii.[9]
He'''s right. At least we'll have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition on the Wii the same day as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes out on all the other systems.[35] Personally, I hope Modern Warfare Reflex bombs, because the Wii verision of Call of Duty will never be equal to the HD versions.[9] All PC versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be powered by Steamworks, providing gamers with auto-updating, anti-cheat technology, Steam Achievements, and the recently introduced Steam Cloud.[23] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for PC will include 50 Steam Achievements, enticing players to train a local militia and be "Back in the Saddle" or infiltrate the snowy mountain side base and earn the "Cold Shoulder."[23] Missions include highlights from the single player campaign, fan favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and all new, exclusive missions.[23] Is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Terrorist Gameplay Artful? An unsanctioned video clip from Activision's forthcoming military shooter reveals players can slaughter innocent civilians, prompting debate over its appropriateness.[51] Beginning with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2'''s worldwide release on Nov. 10, fans can arm themselves with Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console, which features an exclusive design inspired by the epic thriller, more storage space than ever before in a 250GB Hard Drive, two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers, as well as an Xbox 360 Headset and a Standard Edition copy of '''Modern Warfare 2''' for an estimated retail price of $399.99 (USD).[23] Microsoft are also using the release of Modern Warfare 2 to coincide with the launch of the new 250GB hard drive Xbox 360 in a bundle with the game and two controllers.[29] The first Modern Warfare was truly a multi-platform release, appearing on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC/Mac and a Nintendo Wii port. Its sequel, Modern Warfare 2, isn't getting a Wii port just yet.[18]
I'm sorry, but I agree. The Wii just can't do that this generation and graphics are a big factor. They do matter now matter what you defenders say. They aren't the be all end all, but if a company wants to tell an amazing story that looks realistic, then the Wii DOES suck. I respect this company and have no issues with them bashing the Wii. It's not the right platform for Modern Warfare anyways.[9] Yeah, you do realize that it's not just graphics that they're talking about, right? The Wii couldn't run Modern Warfare 2 properly, and it isn't just the graphical issues.[9]
Maybe pigs will fly as well. Unless a large proportion of Wii owners are truly desperate to get their hands on a year old title with watered down graphics and the underlying promise of "ultimate FPS control" I doubt Modern Warfare will be a huge seller.[9]
In terms of video game releases, the week beginning November 9 may as well be known as Modern Warfare 2 week.[29] Footage from the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 has been leaked, and the startling video shows a player-controlled character killing innocent civilians in one of the game's missions.[43]
A single-console game, no matter how anticipated, could never match the fervor for Modern Warfare 2--so that takes series like Halo, Gears of War, and Metal Gear Solid out of the running.[41] "As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network." Despite the recent upheavals that Modern Warfare 2 has been through, it's still set to become the biggest videogame launch this year, and in terms of first week sales and revenue, will surely challenge the release records set by Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV, if it doesn't wipe them clean that is.[36] Modern Warfare 2, Microsoft and GameStop team up for the official first-to-play/VIP launch event for the year's most anticipated game.[52]
For one, because that's the exactly cap for the first Modern Warfare game, and for two, because I usually only play 3 on 3 or 6 on 6 games anyway.[30] First-to-Play : Microsoft and GameStop are giving Modern Warfare 2 fans the chance to play the game before it goes on sale at midnight.[52]
Dialogue in Modern Warfare 2 also contains frequent swearing in both English and Russian, so there's an opportunity for bilingual offense. The ESRB has given Modern Warfare 2 a "Mature" rating in the U.S. which is its second strictest rating. It means only players over 17 are entitled to purchase the game.[53] By comparison most other FPS games look boring, compared to the joy of firing a weapon in Modern Warfare 2. You get to handle a massive array of weapons throughout the game and they all fit into the campaigns in a sensible way.[39] Game with Fame: Destined to be a 'grudge match for the ages,' Philadelphia Phillies star pitcher Cole Hamels will lead a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer team against a squad led by New York Yankees Nick Swisher and Jerry Hairston.[52] Everything sounds fantastic but if you really want to get the maximum out of it then you need to connect it into a 5.1 surround sound system. GAMEPLAY: A great game is defined by its gameplay and Modern Warfare 2 exceeds expectations when it comes to this.[39] First up, if you didn't know, GameStop has been giving away daily prizes for Modern Warfare 2 for a little while now. All you have to do is pre-order the game from GameStop and then enter their sweepstakes over on Surprize Attack, where they're holding raffles twice a day.[54] Here on Game Hunters, we will be featuring exclusive Modern Warfare 2 content between now and the game's arrival, so check back often.[40]
I've read forum posts where many Modern Warfare owners are planning on getting the Wii version when released, because the motion controls can make that much of a difference to the gameplay experience.[35] As reported from Eurogamer, Bowling was talking about how the team plans to move on to something else after Modern Warfare 2, but a good portion of the interview was spent talking about a Wii version (or lack of it).[20]
Washington (dbTechno) - It appears that the little Nintendo Wii simply cannot handle the behemoth that is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.[34] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 features more dynamic gameplay than the original, more multiplayer options, a sweet new third-person mode, brand new cooperative features and graphics that are just to die for.[55] You can check out the new launch trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 below or visit the Official Website for more information.[55] "By all indicators, we anticipate 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time,''' GameStop's executive vice president for merchandising and marketing Tony Bartel told USA Today.[33] Activision has claimed its Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the " biggest entertainment launch of all time," and retailer GameStop agrees -- anticipating the title will have the biggest launch it's ever seen.[27]
We're a week away from the launch of one of the year's most highly anticipated releases, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.[54] The Call of Duty franchise has always been a popular series for Activision, but "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare''' two years ago was particularly popular.[46]
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Hands-On Preview We play Spec Ops, check out Rio in single-player, and learn about the honey badger.[32] Community boss Rob Bowling has told Develop that social networking tool Twitter has been key to the creation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.[50] Best Buy Canada announced today that they will be hosting a couple of midnight launch events for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.[56] Comparable to the "Mile High Club" epilogue mission in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a "Special Ops" mode that consists of isolated missions in a variety of settings unrelated to the campaign story.[37] Activision Blizzard'''s "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," a first-person-shooter videogame, is coming out Nov. 10, and anticipation is mounting.[46] Epic single-player campaign picks up immediately following the thrilling events from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.[23] Last week, some footage leaked from the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.[43]

You are failing the PC gamers who got you where you are now. I usually buy Call of Duty games for both 360 and PC because if you play them both, they are truly different expierences. [32] I was playing lag free 64 player matches in Battlefield 1942 back in 2003. This is a seriously a joke, do they want PC gamers to have any fun? Thankfully I don't really like the COD games cause I would be pissed if this was my favorite franchise going to crap.[32] I like being a jerk to the pc gamers, because their vehemence feeds my soul, but this is just getting crazy. They friggin makes these games on high end computers. It's like biting the hand that feeds you. I have friends that game on pc's, and their not even concerned about this.[32]
I don't hardly ever pirate PC games, but I'll make an exception here. These guys are douches. The funny thing is they most certainly can get away with it. The game is going to sell a bajillion copies on Xbox and PS3, even if every PC gamer in the world boycotted it it probably wouldn't hurt them too badly.[30] PC gamers are elitist moaning-faced twats in all honesty. They are going to have start dealing with the fact that soon enough (I give it a few years at least though) that games will be standard across all formats and I can see an amalgamated Games for Windows/Xbox live happening. This will be due to pirating and also the younger ones - post 80's kids - scared to enter PC gaming due to hardware/software issues and of course the elitist PC gamer knobs who scare them all away because they don't know what hyper-threading, water cooled or who Guybrush Threepwood is.[30]
Our aura of entitlement isn't helping the cause right now. At least with regard to certain things, we've experienced better for a long time (though the debate of servers v. matchmaking is still up in the air). For those who remember, Steam took a HELL of a long time to catch on, back in the day when only Valve games were using it, and only really did when it became the de facto standard for How You Play Games On The PC Now. I believe that this is the case with IW net, SO LONG as they can leap those hurdles. If not, we really DO get a lesser game for it.[30] In this thread I laugh at Wii fanboys calling IW graphic whores when they haven't even made a HD game on consoles this gen. They are right to leave the Wii behind. In this thread I laugh at Wii fanboys calling IW graphic whores when they haven't even made a HD game on consoles this gen. They are right to leave the Wii behind. It was not impossible to Fap underwater, it was impossible to Fap anywhere else - Andrew Simez.[5] Which multiconsole gamers out there would consider a Wii version even though it lacks so many features? IW wouldn't want to develop a new build of a game that noone would buy. Or just. y'know go multiconsole. It's not exactly ridiculously expensive anymore.[5] I'm aware that a good story can be told utilizing any graphical medium. It's not just graphics--the physics system, the gameplay, everything about CoD games is next-gen. Similar to the DS, it's just gonna be a different game. The DS is not getting MW2; they're getting the mobile version of MW2, just like the Wii isn't getting MW; they're getting MW in 480p that's been downsized. It may be a good game, but after playing the first I'm having trouble seeing how anything (especially the single-player) could be on even remotely the same level, presentation-wise.[9] Plus didn't CoD5 sell heaps on the Wii? I thought I saw that somewhere. It probably did, just not as much as the true versions of the game. Anyways it's not entirely a negative comment, we all know the Wii is less powerful, but he should not state it like it can't be done. It very well can be done if they put some effort and move beyond the millions of Poly's and Pixels. CoD is a huge series, if RE4 managed to sell 1m copies, this could do the same or better with some ads.[5] Plus didn't CoD5 sell heaps on the Wii? I thought I saw that somewhere. I would not be a buyer regardless of the system, but it's a shame seeing dev's that don';t wanna do something and simply state that the platform can't do it.[5]
Meaning the Wii can't do it. No, those quotes are taken completely out of context which isn't fair. People in interviews are put under strain to answer quickly and quite often what they say isn't reported exactly as they mean it. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it. ^That should be more than enough to show you what he really means^ He didn't say the Wii can't play MW. He said the Wii can't be developed for equally with the PS360, which shouldn't be hard for anyone to understand. By no means I really think he actually means it can't be done, my point is it can be done but they don't want to. They should make it clear: "we don't want to develop for the Wii" instead of "the Wii can't deliver." He made it perfectly clear if you ask me.[5] "Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it."[19]
Do you think the Wii version of MW can be completely equal to the PS360 version? No, it can't. They would have to develop a seperate game from ground up, and it's very likely that they would not be able to concentrate on either game fully, subtracting from the exact experience they want to give. That's what he's getting at.[5]
Fair enough, I guess. Do you think it's right for the more "cinematic" developers out there to overlook the Wii, or does Nintendo's system simply have an unfair reputation as a machine that can't handle anything more complex than Carnival: Funfair Games.[10] Wow a lot of wii bashing. I see a lot of Pussy developers that replace the word Cinematic with HD The wii does have weaknesses but it really unfair how the are arguing that they cannot make a good wii game.[10]
I tried for over a year to be a good Wii owner, but I had to break down and get a PS3 because of the lack of decent games on the Wii. Other than Metroid Prime Trilogy, I haven't bought or played my Wii for months and months. I do want to try A Boy and His Blob and NSMBWii.[10] What did they expect, of course the Wii doens't have the same power as the Xbox 360 or the PS3, but if they worked this out good, it could be a fantastic game.[9]
I think what IF should realize, though, is that it was out in the opening from the start that the Wii was not going to be on par with the Xbox and Playstation, on a graphical level. The Wii is the frontrunner anyway, and the hardcore fans with Wiis have openly accepted that they aren't going to get graphics on par with the other systems. If a graphical cut doesn't ruin the game entirely (which it rarely does) then it's still worth it for Wii owners.[5] The Wii HD edition is most likely to just be capable of outputting a HD video. There will most probably not be much of a difference, if any, with regards to available horsepower for rendering graphics and physics in games like this.[10] There are loads of great Wii games that look fantastic but have done things different (like cell shaded or cartoony).[9] Yeah, I think Ash is right. Looks like I'm going to have to sit this one out. Trailers like this actually just make me want to go play a simple 2d indie game.[57] I think the inspiration came from the end of that first game because it felt so intimate and personal and triumphant. What if we come back and that''was actually a loss? That was the jumping-off point. What if we didn't win? What if we lost? And that was the beginning of the world of the second game, this idea that by killing ( MW villain Imran) Zakhaev, which felt like a triumph in the first game, that history had interpreted that in a different way and has shaped the present-day situation of international conflict in a different way because of how the Russians chose to remember Zakhaev and the way his death has opened the door for the next generation, the people behind him.[47] I think it is less a geographic journey than an emotional one." Zimmer also stressed that he feels the video game is a legitimate art form. "When movies first came out, maybe they were in black and white and there wasn't any sound and people were saying the theater is still the place to be," he explained. "But now movies and theater have found their own place in the world. They are each legitimate art forms. Now this new thing, it's interesting.[17]
GameStop stores usually call customers who have pre-ordered games the night before launch. Bartel said, this time, it will be '''talking to more people on Monday night than the total amount of 'Call of Duty: World at War' that sold in the first month.''' For the record, Activision Blizzard sold nearly two million copies world-wide of that game in its first month of sales a year ago.[46] The holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year to sit by the fireplace, drink eggnog, reconnect with your family members and of course play video games. While several eagerly awaited titles ("Starcraft 2," "God of War III") were pushed back from release this year, there are still enough Triple-A titles on their way to thoroughly lighten any wallet.[24] We are accustomed to working on a scale of that size. The difference being we start airing a TV show five to six week after we shoot it, as opposed to a video game, which we started working on this thing almost two years ago. You don't get those occasional status updates -- 'How you doing? How are we doing? Are we on the right track? What are the ratings like? -- It's a much, much longer process before things finally see the light of day. As far as the narrative unfolding it's more similar to TV or to a big franchise motion picture, something like doing Lord of the Rings in terms of size.[47] For a long time - long in video game terms, which means maybe five years - "Halo" and its sequels were the standard bearer for "normal gaming."[28]
Sometimes cinematic video games are nice, but usually I agree with this comment from HEL105: If you want a "cinematic experience", go watch a movie.[10] A cinematic experience does not equal fun, otherwise all games would be better off as movies.[10] Yeah, that headline is really misleading and taking IW words out of context. Anyways, if your headline is what they really meant, that would mean no consoles other than the 360 and PS3 are capable of cinematic experiences, which is completely untrue. I feel like we went over this whole topic back in 2006.[10] I wonder if IW thinks dedicated servers can't deliver a cinematic experience either.[10] My cock can easily deliver a more cinematic experience than the Wii. I just need mo-cap and some generic photographic scene props and I'll bet you I can top anything they can dish out.[10] "If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform," commented Bowling.[9] "If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform,"'' Robert Bowling told Develop.[19]

The Wii doesn't offer anything over the competition in terms of providing a cinematic experience, it only lowers the bar. [5]
Does that mean Wii games can't be cinematic? No, but No More Heroes and Okami, the two best examples i can think of, are cartoons. (and You don't reeeally need Disney movies in HD, etc.) Even Sudo 51 says he can no longer use the Wii if he wants to expand on his ideas. That's the Wii's best 3rd party dev talking.[10] The Wii is fun but I dont think it will ever be suited to this sort of game.[35]
People who have a Wii and not the other systems will gladly take a slight hit to visuals over never getting to play a good game at all.[5] Um. They think the Wii isn't powerful enough to make good warfare games? Funny, I don't recall anyone complaining about console graphical capabilities in the previous generation, and I'm pretty certain none of those were HD. It's not that the Wii is underpowered, it's just that clearly these people can't be bothered making the effort.[9]
Infinity Ward has ruled out development on Nintendo's Wii console after stating that the platform cannot meet the studio's ambitions.[14] Anyways, Infinity Ward made similar comments about the Wii not being able to handle COD, and yet Treyarch managed to keep World at War's campaign in tact while the multiplayer remains one of the most popular online shooters on the platform.[35] Nope, sorry, that's pure bull. If CoD:World at War could be delivered on Wii, this is just Infinity Ward being lazy ass graphics whores.[5] A thoroughly deep and engaging can easily be made on Wii. They are just using specs as an excuse. This is Infinity Ward not being able to deliver.[5]
Would you like to see "MW2" come to the Wii? Do you agree with Infinity Ward's assessment of the Wii? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.[33]
You, as the player, will be given the opportunity to put noncombatants in the crosshairs and pull the trigger. Unsurprisingly, the leak has garnered its fair share of controversy, with voices shouting out both for and against the scene in Infinity Ward's game. Some say it's a sign of the maturation of the medium. Others say it's tasteless.[43] Fuck Infinity Ward. This has nothing to do with Activision and Sony, it was Infinity Ward's decision to go with player hosted games, not Activision, but you can keep grasping at those imaginary straws.[13]
The game takes place in modern day and even though Infinity Ward has not released all the information it is known that battle locations will include Russia, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Rio de Janeiro and Washington, D.C.[15] It's almost as if Infinity Ward, bored with all the positive press they've been getting, has intentionally been going out of their way to try and turn people off from the game.[26] Writer Jesse Stern, who assisted the Infinity Ward creative team on the game's script, offered some thoughts on the new game in our story here. During conversations last week and earlier this week,''Stern also recalled that truth often became as strange as fiction during the development process.[47] If Gearbox can say "hey the options aren't in the game but here's how to modify the ini to suit your needs" it really raises the question why big ol' Infinity Ward can't even do that much.[30] More than 2,600 of Walmart's 24-hour stores will have supplies of the game ready to sell at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. The first 20 customers at those locations get an autographed game cover signed by the Infinity Ward development team, too.[40] Last week, Infinity Ward released a viral promotional video on YouTube advertising the game.[28] You kids with your sense of entitlement are frankly sickening. Infinity Ward made a decision to make their game as they saw fit, they don't owe you anything. Even if the decision was purely financially based it is their right to do so.[30] According to Infinity Ward, there will be three different types of gameplay in the game.[15]
"Or perhaps Infinity Ward know most PC gamers would pirate it anyway, so don't feel the need to win their loyalty?" You need a legit key to play online.[30] The software has great latency tolerance." Infinity Ward has infuriated many PC gamers with its server decision and subsequent defense of that decision.[30]
Infinity Ward confirms that PC players will have the same online player limit as their console counterparts.[32] That comment does seem a little un-needed, why does infinity ward need to repeat what everyone knows. Everyone knows the wii can't handle the graphical power a port would need but wii players don't need to have to have it spelled them.[7] In an interview with Develop, Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling, detailed the company's doubts about the delivery power of the Wii.[8]
From underwater, to desert, to snow, to even outer space, Infinity Ward's "Modern Warfare 2 has it covered.[42] Ive got nothing against Infinity Ward here, but I do hate the general obsession in the industry of making stuff (look) like blockbuster action flicks all the time.[5] Before then, Infinity Ward and Activision have an official launch trailer to premiere. Instead of sending us that trailer to show you all, they delivered us a message a la Paul Revere announcing the trailer would air tonight on that dinosaur device called a television, during the new episode of South Park on Comedy Central and The Ultimate Fighter on Spike, both starting at 10 pm/EST. "This press release about this trailer is like Christmas come early!", says Crave writer Joey Davidson. Although in actuality, it's like Christmas without santa, a decorated tree, or presents. Meaning, it's nothing like Christmas at all. It's like waiting for Christmas.[49] Besides that Infinity Ward just seems like a bunch of pusses that really can't get over themselves.[10]
When it stops being fun, we'll move onto something else." It wouldn't mean the end of Call of Duty if Infinity Ward did move onto different projects.[25] You're not being cruelly neglected though, PS3 owners: Infinity Ward is slaving away on some PS3 Dynamic Themes also.[48]
"All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience. Not all of the names on that list are legit," said Infinity Ward, when talking about the MW2 server petition and downplaying the significance of its 178,000 signatures.[30] There is a boycott for COD:MW2 and it currently has over 43k signatures. That adds up to about $2.6 million in lost potential sales. Infinity Ward may want to rethink its '''price jacking-no dedicated server support''' strategy.[13]
More does not always = better. Combine this with the dedicated server thing, though, and it doesn't seem like it would have been that hard to implement crossplay between 360 and PC. Sounds like they're basically going to be the same game.[32] @charaznable You don't need dedicated servers to have private servers in a PC game, d00der.[30]
If you don't like the decision not to support dedicated servers then don't buy the game.[30] I'm all for burning IW in effigy for not allowing dedicated servers, but this cap has nothing to do with screwing over anyone or "consolizing" the game.[32] Like give us the option for dedicated servers or give us the option to play on inflated servers. IW can still have their matchmaking service and their player caps, but they'll also give the option to play a completely different way.[32]
If there's another 8 players out there, three guys could combine thier fire to take you out to the point your little damage reduction ability might not be worth it anymore. These weapons and perks are made with the knowledge that there for every team player, there are 9 other guys who could have any number of other things to counter what you've got. It makes perfect sense to me, and I gotta say that getting pissy about getting into only 9-versus-9 fights seems like a pretty darn anal-retentive reason not to get the next game. I mean, seriously, how often are you lined up Revolutionary-War-style with your team directly facing the other team across the way? If I see any more than 6 people from both sides on my screen is a day that I'm up in a snipers perch and probably getting shot at already.[32] For those who wanted more adventures in Liberty City after they parted ways with '''Grand Theft Auto IV,''' Rockstar has assembled its Xbox Live exclusive downloadable content on one disc for $39. The game contains the previously released '''The Lost and the Damned,''' which focuses on the biker gangs of Liberty, and the new '''The Ballad of Gay Tony,''' an exaggerated look into the jet set of the faux New York and the bizarre tasks its members ask of the player in order to maintain their lifestyles. A copy of GTA IV is not required, though its protagonist, Niko Bellic, does make an appearance in the episodes as they interweave with his story. The game also includes new multiplayer modes from both episodes, which encapsulate motorcycle gang wars as well as outrageous sky diving, rocket launching mayhem.[24] The game's developers have already announced a controversial new matchmaking system for PC multiplayer mode, which is presumably in part meant to curb piracy. Now, it's been revealed that "MW2" will block party chats on Xbox Live and reset its current leaderboards at launch to try and level the online playing field.[12] The levels are designed for up to 9 vs 9 combat. Let's repeat that: THE LEVELS WERE DESIGNED FOR UP TO 9 VS 9 COMBAT. Why on Earth would they enable more players than they built the maps for, just to satisfy a bullet point on some piss-ant "every PC shooter must have these" list from 1994? If you really want it, do what they did back then: hack it. It's the same thing with co-op. Every game that doesn't have it gets pissed on, but most of the games that do have it suck, you just don't notice because you're talking to your friend.[32]
It has been said before and I shall say it again. It is the move to make PC games more like their console versions.[30] Just goes to show you that the 360 seriously is the amateur console. That would explain the popularity of titles like Halo when they don't hold a candle to the likes of most PC games.[13]
Dont play, I still will. If nobody buys this on PC, then this could spell the beginning of the end for PC FPS's. If people do still buy this on PC, and they will, then it will mean that Activision has won and can save money on developing all its games by simply designing them specifically for consoles and then porting them over to PC without any modification.[32]
As I said before. Just get it on PC, it's akin to playing it on wii anyway, yaknow, with the mouse and all. (Though mouse is far superior for FPS's than wiimote) Playing a proper version of a game can have favourable results on your own persona compared to playing a cut down version.[5] SuperDarkLink said: @ Sonic_13, I ask again, what reason do IW have to make a game on Wii? They owe nothing to Nintendo fans, they're not big enough to concentrate on making 2 big games at once (HD and SD versions of the same game), and their main demographic just happens to be PS360 What would you do if you were IW? I never said they had to (or should). I just said that their excuse for doing so was rather lame. If they don't want to make Wii games then say so, but it is entirely possible to do what they claim is impossible. I never said they had to (or should). I just said that their excuse for doing so was rather lame. If they don't want to make Wii games then say so, but it is entirely possible to do what they claim is impossible.[5] Love the subline. @Goigo: Well, I'm pretty sure the DS version of MW2 is its own game. No idea why they can't just do that for the Wii instead of making a dumbed-down port, but.[9] Less inferior versions of a HD game ported to the Wii = a better future for the Wii.[9] They should get N-space to make the Wii version. If they put half as much effort into it as their DS games, it'll still be more love than this guy is showing.[9]
The xBox is more shoot em up console whilst the Wii will specialise in acitities. Much prefer the xBox for its game quality.[35] Activision's modern military shooter arrives next week for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows. Unless you're a visiting extraterrestrial, you've probably read about this video clip from the game, which shows a player-controlled massacre of innocent civilians in an airport.[51] I rented Modern Warefare (1), I beat the campaign in the first two days, and played some games online for the rest of three days on my rental. It was fun, but I felt like I was completely done with it after a week.[13] Just as "play" over time refines our behavioral palette, says Boyd, so art "increases cognitive skills, repertoires, and sensitivities." "A work of art acts like a playground for the mind, a swing or a slide or a merry-go-round of visual or aural or social pattern," he says, arguing "Like play, art succeeds by engaging and rewarding attention, since the more frequent and intense our response, the more powerful the neural consequences." It's that last sentence that resonates when thinking about this Modern Warfare 2 sequence.[51] I'd avoid watching and reserve judgement till you play." It won't be too long before we'll all be able to experience the controversy for ourselves, as Modern Warfare 2 launches on November 10.[43]
The idiots at JB Hi-FI have put 'Coming Soon' display boxes for Modern Warfare 2 in the Wii section. I take it they actually mean Modern Warfare 1.[18] I'm sure there are people who played Modern Warfare on the PC and loved 16 v 16 matches or whatever. They shouldn't be ignored.[30] You are meant to bear as close a witness as possible to a pretty revolting atrocity. That is the intent of the level, to put you in a situation like that. It is the shape of modern warfare these days, violence against citizens." Other footage shows U.S. troops battling for control of the nation's capital.[6] Modern Warfare 2's shocking terrorism level has been causing a stir since it was first announced but now we have first hand details of the gameplay.[53]
The one thing with Modern Warfare 2 that wasn'''t quite so good was the time it took to complete the campaign.[39] "Right now we wanted to make a sequel, so the entire team is hands on deck for making Modern Warfare 2. "Then once this is done, maybe we'll see about doing something new.[14] When we came back in after we took a little break and Modern Warfare was released and did so well and won awards, we didn't just jump right back in and say let's pick up that thread from exactly where it is because we were pretty much done with it.[47] Modern Warfare 2, the most anticipated multi-platform videogame of 2009, is being released internationally on November 10 in a variety of software and hardware bundles, ranging from $29.99 / €39.99 right through to $399.99 / €329.99.[29]
Vladimir Makarov, the leader of a Russian ultra-nationalist organisation is helping things along by causing chaos all over the world. In the original Modern Warfare you killed Imran Zakhaev, this turns out to be an associate of Makarov, and he has used his death to rally support against the western world. This is when the west decides to step in and forms a group called Task Force 141 to try and take down Makarov and his followers. This group consist of familiar characters and introduces some new recruits.[39] Modern Warfare 2 arrives on nearly all major gaming platforms in some form or another.[29] The leaked video released last week seems to confirm Zimmer's claim about the "emotional dakness" in Modern Warfare 2.[17] The MP aspect of Modern warfare really grows on you. The unlocking of different classes and weapons is definitely responsible for this.[13] The best analysis I've read of the footage is by Tom Hoggins, writing for Telegraph. Give it a read. He also notes the BBFC (the British Board of Film Classification) already passed Modern Warfare 2 with an 18 ("Suitable only for adults") certification.[51] Maybe Modern Warfare's appropriation of the terrorist-blasting zeitgeist helped, too: dominant militarized masculinity cut with a Tom Clancy wet dream. Powerful stuff, and it's become synonymous with "gaming" in the mainstream.[28] Modern Warfare 2 drops in stores next week, and is set to be the''BIGGEST GAME''EVAR. Okay, you probably hear that a lot, but for once, that''might''not be empty hyperbole.[48] The rhyming styles of Nate Dogg and Marshall Mathers set to footage of missiles decimating castles and frosty snowmobile chases may override one's desire to go into Modern Warfare 2 fresh.[38] If you already pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 from somewhere else, though, don't worry: Destructoid's got your back.[54]

Where the original games were set in World War II, players took on the role of soldiers in modern times fighting a radical leader in the Middle East and ultra-nationalists in Russia. [46] Up to four players can join the game at any time and work together to overcome the stage'''s obstacles, while competing to have the most lives and coins at the end of each level.[24]
"I'll be interested in seeing if MW2 has civilian NPCs in the mix of combat, and if so, are the U.S. forces players penalized for killing them?" Timothy told Ars. "I know combat veterans, many of them including my son. They have seen the enemy die by their own hands and they have seen the civilian carnage in that same mix. If a game allows you to play a U.S. or Allied soldier/Marine and even puts the opportunity for you to kill civilians, it sends a terrible message about those Americans and allies that actually have to do this tough job for real." In spite of this trepidation, he's unsure of how to go about treating this sort of controversial material. "Should this stuff be censored? I personally don't think that is the answer, I am a supporter of free speech, but game companies should show some tact, respect, and judgment before glorifying these actions by allowing players to do these things in a game," Timothy told Ars.[43] The game drew flak in the media for allowing player participation in a terrorist attack on civilians, an element of the secretive plot revealed in a video clip leaked last week. That footage doesn't provide full context for the scene, Stern says. "It is upsetting and disturbing, but it's not what you think it is.[6] I think Bobby Kotick will have something to say about 'not doing cod games when it stops being fun to make them', a few weeks ago he said he wants to take the fun out of making video games. also I do hope they move on after this.[18] I think the thing that has made me somewhat comfortable with working in a video game narrative is that it sort of equates to doing an entire season of a television show.[47] MCV is the leading trade news and community site for all professionals working within the UK and international video games market. It reaches everyone from store manager to CEO, covering the entire industry.[14] Mike Snider began covering the video game industry during the Super Nintendo-Sega Genesis clash in 1992. An original pinball wizard, he eventually was seduced by Robotron: 2084 and Tempest. These days he is a fan of action/shooters and lives out his Keith Moon fantasies playing a mean drum kit on music games.[40]
Considering if just the 181,000 petitioners boycott the game that is a loss of $10.8 Million in retail sales - approximately $6.5 Million in loss revenue for Activision. Now consider the ramifications to the computer industry - how many of these boycotting gamers would have upgraded their PC's and equipment to handle this latest game - Intel, Nvidea, Asus, etc. Sales in top end processors, video cards, ram, etc will all feel a hit in potential sales.[46]
They are really screwing the PC crowd this time around and it sucks bacause without PC gamers Call Of Duty would have never made it to where they are today. Just throw us a bone or something, this is turning out to be nothing but bad form.[32] Perhaps, but at least for the PC gamers who aren't pirating, there really are considerable technical and performance hurdles that IW will need to jump for them to prove that their solution really is superior (or at least equal) to what PC gamers are used to.[30] I honestly don't know how representative the angry voices on gaming sites are, for PC gamers. I know most PC gamers on gaming websites are really angry about this; but as I know there only 1 /10 PC gamers go on gaming websites and write comments about it.[4]
Come on people!!!! You PC gamers saying that it should be made for the console that it is on look at what happened.[32] Hacked servers for pirated copies are few, with outdated patches and bad ping. You are my favorite editor Jim, but Dtoid seriously need a pc gamer on their staff or just report the news with no editorial content.[30] Casual gamers want an easy casual experience. Hardcore pc gamers are dropping in numbers as they get older and have more pressing issues to take care of, eg. jobs, family, food.[32] Talk about beating a dead horse. The Wii is not as powerful as a 360/PS3, oh no! But I get what they are saying. IW creates a high end product, and even if they were able to port their product to the Wii, it would not be the experience they want gamers to have. It makes sense.[10] I don't think this guy is talking about shallow graphics, but rather the ability to use graphics to better convey the experience of the game. He talks about graphics as an aspect, not a focal point. I think what he says is pretty fair.[5] Players should wait to discover and enjoy it themselves come November 10th. Any judgment of features should be reserved until they get a chance to experience them in context of the full game."[2]
For those that think games these days just aren'''t nearly metal enough, Tim Schafer (the co-creator of gaming classics such as '''The Secret of Monkey Island''' and '''Grim Fandango''') has the solution. Br''tal Legend is a mash-up of several different gaming genres ''' the protagonist (voiced by Jack Black) brawls like '''God of War'''s''' Ares, drives like Sweet Tooth from '''Twisted Metal''' and commands his legions like Nod in '''Command & Conquer.''' The game features more than a hundred classic metal tracks hand-picked by Schafer, as well as a star studded voice lineup enlisted to spout his notoriously hilarious witticisms including Tim Curry, Lemmy Kilmister and Ozzy Osbourne. Don'''t let this one slip by like another '''Psychonauts.'''[24] Some people are boycotting to make a point, others like myself WOULD be boycotting if not for the fact that IW has ruined the gameplay as a whole so that I no longer even wish to purchase it. This was once my most anticipated game of the year.[13] I'm just amazed at how people are surprised at any of this.At the end of the day all of the outrage is kind of meaningless. IW is going to do what they want and people are going to buy this game by the shitload.[30] The contingent that things this situation sucks is pretty upset. Unfortunately I think they are out-numbered by the people who will buy this game irregardless by about 50 to 1.[4] Most people should be able to complete the game in under 10 hours and considering the cost of the game I think it could last a bit longer. To be fair I think this is the same with main similar games.[39]
I dunno. Personally, of course, I wasn't happy to hear their decision. Especially when considering this game will make 14 billion trillion dollars. It's not like the costs are really that big of a deal in comparison to the amount of units this game will sell.[4] Fourth and fifth place: A $50 GameStop gift card. All you have to do to enter this contest is to create a perk you would like to see appear in a Call of Duty game. It can be funny, serious -- anything goes.[54] Because the game takes itself seriously, for starters. This isn't an on-sides situation where the developers have your squad mates slapping at friendly bullets--misfired or not--like bees and muttering "Hey watch it!" It's not like picking up tiny yelping villagers by their toes and flinging them across hills and mountains to watch them hobble home broken-limbed in Lionhead's Black & White. These aren't victims of "collateral damage" (an abhorrent military term, but you get the point) betwixt you and some equally violence-dealing opponent. It's violence for the sake of violence--ostensibly to intimidate in pursuit of some political or ideological aim. The big question, though, is whether it's good disturbing stuff.[51] I can also agree that good storytelling and gameplay is very important, but not in a (mostly) online game that goes hard on realism. Leave that to games like Okami, MadWorld, Final Fantasy (can take both ends) and so on. I can understand this.[5]
I played w@w to double prestige on Wii - it was good, in fact one of the better Wii games by far.[10] Oh Wii, I had high hopes for you. then I sold you and bought ps3 games with the money.[10] Why developers cannot get past of porting games, that were made for HD-Ready -consoles with last gen controllers, instead of making own game for Wii. Instead of 3 mild CoD's enjoying mild succes on Wii, they could have made one super CoD.[9] L37 R.O.B. He didn't say it couldn't be done on Wii, he said they wanted to develop the same game equally across multiple platforms.[5] Most of the more mature games failed because of poor marketing- the majority of Wii owners have never even heard of these titles, of course they're not going to sell well.[10] There's some truly marvelous game concepts that thrive on the cinematic approach the wii cannot provide.[5] I still have not seen a single wii game look better than Super Mario Galaxy, from Third Party.[10] Leonardo Da Vinci assists throughout the game as sort of Renaissance version of James Bond'''s '''Q,''' providing wondrous gadgets and mechanisms to aid with the assassin'''s quest. '''The graphics look good ''' what they do in the game looks good.[24] The snow blows around the screen and looks very realistic. For the most part this game looks very similar to the previous but the previous was very good so there was no real need to implement drastic changes.[39] The new launch trailer has easily made it into consideration for one of the best trailers of the entire year. It's got a good song, tons of action and is one of the few trailers that will literally make you want to go out and buy this game, no second guessing at all.[55] Judging from the PS3 crowd, it is safe to assume that Demon Souls is a better game them Unchartered 2 regardless of the Metacritic Score of 89 vs 98. All you guys talk about this game but UC2 just grts the initial it a good game mention but that's it.[13]
One of the biggest action thrillers of this holiday season cannot be seen in theaters ''' even though it'''s already on Blu-ray disc. It also happens to be the sequel to 2007'''s hit game '''Uncharted: Drake'''s Fortune.''' Improvements to the control scheme and addictive multiplayer make this title not only an improvement on its predecessor, but also a must-have for any PS3 owner. An effective and intuitive cover system, combined with high-flying platforming, make the game seem at times like a child of '''Gears of War''' and '''Assassin'''s Creed,''' taking the best elements of both while maintaining a fast-paced and intriguing story.[24] Personally I don't like to play FPS games with the dual analogue sticks, but apart from that CoD5 was awsome. This is talk about a CoD game.[5] Trailers like this actually just make me want to go play a simple 2d indie game.[57]
Imagine trying to play a 32 player game hosted on some idiot's home DSL connection. 18 is also way above what the average user's home connection can even handle.[32] Consoles seem to do better with player hosted games, but having to sacrifice KBM + graphics/Frames per second means that I would be comprimising either way.[13] I got a legit copy of MW (and other of my games). but I'm pissed because I dont want to (and will not) buy a gimped version of the game just because consoles cant handle more players or some other retarded reason.[30] NB I do feel for the Americans though as I've heard the game is more expensive than the console versions.[30]
@Klarden "people who will pirate the game don't care about multiplayer anyway" yes. and by gimping multiplayer they took out the one reason some pirate would consider buying a legit version.[30] "At the beginning of the game, there are two 'checkpoints' where the player is advised that some people may find an upcoming segment disturbing. These checkpoints can't be disabled."[43] I'm going to laugh when I hear all of the PC players talking about how great the game is.[32] While '''Dragon Age''' is somewhat of a spiritual successor to Bioware'''s Dungeons and Dragons based '''Baldur'''s Gate''' series, it also employs several new themes the developer has explored since its maturation. The game'''s brutal and gritty world is full of lust, wrath and greed, and the decisions the player makes both when creating his or her character and during the game will have widespread consequences.[24] At the beginning of the week we'd touched on Remedy Entertainment's relationship with the publisher for its game Alan Wake : Microsoft. According to the developer, there's quite a bit of leniency for them in deciding exactly how their game is presented to the media, which was surprising and pleasing to hear. "I don't think any developer should not have control of how their game is presented or marketed or communicated," he said, "and they should take control of that a lot, lot more. It is why I started my Twitter account in the first place.[31] A quote from a 360 fanboy. Why should they care? They only have it in very few EA games. Even after paying for Live MS couldn't toss them a bone and give them dedicated servers for their first party games.[13] Not good. I think I am going to sell my ATVI stock, as this news along with no dedicated servers will probably affect sales.[32] COD4 didn't use dedicated servers. "I just think this dedication stuff is an excuse for ps3 fanboys to vent their anger about activison humiliating sony.[13]
Lets be honest, this isn't a real surprise as I would not want to be playing with more than 18 players on hosted on someones PC/Xbox on a cheap home connection. IW are just making concessions because they decided not to implement dedicated servers.[32]

We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it. That's perfectly fair imo. I think what he's said has been taken out of context. This is the fault of the Wii, not IW. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it. That's perfectly fair imo. I think what he's said has been taken out of context. [5] With some creativity and effort the Wii can definitely cinematic moments. I would also like to point out that IW says specfically that the Wii can't handle what they want to do.[10]
A fully cinematic and blockbuster experience is the full package, the Wii can't cope with having as many objects on screen let alone the level of details required to have things blowing in the wind and interactive environments, lighting, physics.[7] Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we'''re doing.[35] Meaning the Wii can't do it. By no means I really think he actually means it can't be done, my point is it can be done but they don't want to. They should make it clear: "we don't want to develop for the Wii" instead of "the Wii can't deliver."[5]
I only really play on consoles so I never give much thought to stuff like this, but Bozon-IGN makes an excellent point and his analogy really made me think.[32] I got a feeling like Borderlands was made for console, ported to PC. There is some PS3 and XBox 360 code in the.ini files.[30] Further alienating PS3 customers was the pre-release promise of exclusive Xbox 360 chapters. When you consider that a popular sequel is launching on three platforms simultaneously--with no real exclusives that would alienate single-system gamers--at a time where the PS3 and Xbox 360 have very friendly purchase prices and the retailer making the boast is opening new stores even during lean times (Reuters)--yeah, it's actually a bit of a surprise that it's taken so long for someone to tell us that this has happened.[41]
One of the few challengers to the Xbox Live domination of '''Halo 3,''' the distinct multiplayer is even more in-depth with several new modes and customizations. '''That one, I'''m really looking forward to,''' Reading sophomore Blake Jackson said. Jackson said he is playing through the first '''Modern Warfare''' to get ready for the second.[24] "They already had a pretty detailed outline of what they wanted to do. They showed me what they had and had some difference of opinion of how to proceed and they said, 'How would you do it ? I said, 'Well, I would add this. I would lose this and I would move this over there' and I wrote up a three-page treatment of how I would just tweak the story a little bit to make it even better and then I didn't hear from them for about four months. Then I got a call one day that said, 'OK, they are ready for you now.' From the point I joined on, we really only created a few new levels and a few new characters.''[47]

The Grapevine, Tex., company has done a couple things to help encourage pre-orders. In late August, it showed the game to to 5,000 of its store managers as part of its annual pre-holiday company meeting, in which they learn about upcoming games. It also started running its own ads, promoting the game starting two weeks ago. On its Web site, GameStop is offering pre-order customers a sweepstakes with thousands of prizes inspired by the game as well as a $40 guaranteed trade credit if the game is traded back in by Dec. 13. Other retailers are also hoping to benefit from the '''Modern Warfare 2''' buzz. Amazon.com is offering a $20 videogame credit toward the purchase of a future game for customers who pre-order the $59.99 game. [46] Pfffff This game takes place in space as well as all that other stuff? This game just keeps getting more and more absurd all the time.[26] I might as well put off studying a little bit longer and buy what is going to be the best game in a long time."[15]
"402 signed it 4 times I heard," adds IW's Mackey McAndlish, while also revealing that, "Games cap out at 9v9.[30] I was really excited about this game a few weeks back, now i'm just nervous, not cool IW, not cool.[30] Plus if it is that bad for you guys why don't you wait 1 year so IW can make you the "right" maps and game size.[32] GREAT IDEA! Now IW why dont you go throught the back door and screw yourself while we play some, you know. real games that havent been overhyped.[30] Perk: NoMoreJones After not being able to play for several days the first 1,2 or 3 games for each day you weren't able to play (up to 3) you will have enhanced aim and ever 3rd shot be an automatic headshot. If you use this perk your network connection is slowed for the next 10 games.[54] Uncharted 2 is rated T, not M. Although if it's like the first game it probably could just as easily be rated M.[24] Give me a game with 1/100th the emotional value of a Pixar film, or the epicness and depth of a Ghibli one over one that looks like a realistic but lacks decent characters any day.[5] I still don't care about the graphics in a game unless it's godawful, like this almost definately won't be, so doesn't bother me.[9]
I think that a game can be awesomely good with or without it it just depends on the type of game it is.[5] Approaching the level with an open mind I can say that it fits into the context of the game but I do think it will cross the line for what many think is acceptable even if it is only a game.[39] I think this game will truly be everything those quoted reviews are calling it.[26] The online play is extremely polished and detailed. I honestly can't wait for this game to consume my life when I get my hands on it next week.[58] My brother is getting this game no matter what, im trying to convince him to buy Assassin's Creed 2 instead. but he is one of those ppl that only play MP games.[13]
There was so much at play in the game in terms of things of an international impact and the way the actions on one side of the world impact countries on another side of the world, the way allies worked together, the way enemies are formed, the motiviations behind violence behind war.[47] @Yehat I just finished Borderlands a second time around, and I must say that changing the.ini files making the game way more playable (and fun). Gearbox did not put in alot of features, however did say how to change some of them.[30] L4D2 also. I remember when SW said he was going to buy MW 2 no matter what but since then he has seen the error of his waysthere is still time for you also harry dont pay full price for this game lol.[13] November 9th the Bay and Dundas store in Toronto and the Cambie store in Vancouver will be hosting midnight launch parties that will go on from 9pm to 11:59pm. At 12:01am, both stores will open for approx. 1 hour to allow people to purchase the game. If you live near either areas, this will be a great opportunity to get your hands on this game before it goes on sale to the general public later that morning. Full details for this event is as follows.[56] "What if we come back and (the ending in the first game) was actually a loss?" Stern says. "That was the jumping-off point. What they came up with is a game that will "blow a lot of people's minds," Stern says.[6] Brett Molina has been writing about video games for USA TODAY since 2005. He is well-versed in Madden NFL, the fighting genre and first-person shooters. The first video game he played was Asteroids at a local arcade. He has been hooked ever since.[40] One of the writers behind TV's top series, NCIS, is also part of the creative team responsible for what's expected to be the year's biggest video game.[6] USA TODAY's blog covers the best in video games and interactive awesomeness.[6]
Seriously, there are video snippets of just about every major event in the game here, if not every level, including stuff that's potentially spoiler-filled.[38]
The level involves gunning down "several civilians" with the player "given a choice to participate in the killings (e.g. players can shoot a wounded civilian that is crawling on the ground), or walk by and observe without opening fire." The ESRB report reveals that whatever you choose "civilians scream and emit pools of blood as they are shot to death." This level of sheer violence is no doubt the reason for Infinity Ward's decision to allow players to simply opt out of playing the level entirely.[53] Infinity Ward's decision to include a skippable level where the player is tasked with killing civilians in an airport while undercover in a terrorist group has been extremely controversial.[53]
McCandlish explained that an 18-player cap was related to "the number of players we focused on when we were balancing map size, perks, classes, challenges, etc." That lead to one fan venting in the Infinity Ward developer QA session hosted by Best Buy's Geek Squad.[1]
This man has either forgotten what his company is developing, or is talking a lot of breeze. I think he's talking only about Infinity Ward which isn't in charge of the DS version. I can't say much about it since I don't get why it's hyped so much. Might get Reflex if it's cheap (haha, as if, Bobby Kotick will be sad he can't charge even more!) and not too downgraded (don't care about the visuals but I want to know why everybody's hyping it after all).[9] To all of the console people labelling us "whiners" for not accepting Infinity Ward's blatant lies, I ask you to consider it from a different angle.[32] Then Infinity Ward (a normally PC friendly company) goes and fucks it in the ass.[30] " Infinity Ward is clearly trying to calm angered gamers, while downplaying the massive amounts of petitioned gamers.[45] Developer Infinity Ward will be answering some questions from our readers. You can post your submissions in the forum or email them directly to msnider@usatoday.com.[40] You can pull out the acronym. It's a secure coffin Infinity Ward has nailed: a derogatory sexual epithet, a well-known athlete and a guy being blown up by grenades.[28] Just when I'm ready to stop yelling, Infinity Ward goes and screws something else up.[28] As of now, not that I know of. (The Infinity Ward) crew have been working 24 hours a day and are looking for a little bit of a break. If they want to go again, I'd be glad to go again with them.[47] Stern, says Infinity Ward CEO Vince Zampella, "helps us craft the story and mold the characters."[6]

There's plenty of good games on it that don't depend on cinematics to be entertaining. [10] The game includes good multiplayer modes as well though that should allow for many hours of quality gaming.[39]
The prequel was the top selling game worldwide in 2007, and the developers have had two years to develop the game.[15] Almost done with Ratchet and Clank ACIT. I really want to platinum the game as it will be my first.[13] Who wouldn't. Personally I play mostly with my friends so it's always going to be a local server anyway and my next statement is gonna get a lot of abuse but I've always found xbox users seem to have better connections don't know why but everytime I play at my mates that's the first thing I give him abuse about but he's always like.it's never usually like this.[13] No dedicated servers means no private servers for the pirates. All the people bitching and moaning are the pirates that are pissed that they can't fucking run their own servers to play with their pirate friends.[30] Apparently dedicated servers mean something to vast minority. They probably don't care about the loss due to the popularity of the console versions. Thats gotta piss off SW a lot.[13] I have assumed the dedicated servers are for all platforms, not just consoles.[13]
As for the dedicated server business, sure it stinks, but P2P isn't as bad as you guys seem to bill it as. As long as they don't charge for maps on the PC, I'm cool with the whole IWNet thing.[32]
The studio has responded to a number of fan questions surrounding the controversial decision, and the answer isn't what you want to hear. Even moreso, it's been revealed that servers across all platforms, PC included, will max out at eighteen players.[30] Bozon that's not the same thing. You do have a point how IW is treating it's PC fanbase. The online infrastructure is already done but instead of just adding a MM option, they went and deleted the browser feature. The entire system could have been directly lifted from 4 or WaW without anyone complaining but actively removed it out of spite for its fanbase. Now this player cap. It's getting absurd.[32] Don't bother. In the few weeks I spent on the IW forums after this debacle started I've seen a 1000 responses like that from Live users. They don't get it, and they think that because they sit in front of a small pc in a box, rather than a large pc in a box, that this somehow makes them 'cooler'. They don't get it, they never will unless MS/IW takes something from them.[13] Forums and news are pretty integral to the PC gaming thing, though. Agreed. as highlighted, Activision was prepared to give them a huge budget, too, and they rejected it. Apparently this is all for user friendliness and all that. Come to think of it it might be logical to assume this actually is about them wanting more people to play it and not just about money.[4] Despite some gamer backlash over the PC version's new multiplayer system, GameStop has already christened the "MW2" release as a record-breaker.[33]

PS2 was the least powerful, but not by much. now the Wii is basically an iPhone with video output and the other 2 are closer to pretty well-equipped modern-day PCs. Graphics are an issue this generation. [9] @TheFox - No they are just talking about graphics. The Wii just can't do that this generation and graphics are a big factor. They do matter now matter what you defenders say. They aren't the be all end all, but if a company wants to tell an amazing story that looks realistic, then the Wii DOES suck.[9] Look at what happened to the DS port of Call of Duty 4. Let the Wii work to its strengths.[10] The distinctively cinematic shooting gameplay the '''Call of Duty''' series is known for looks to be fully intact. The diverse actions undertaken for each mission ''' which range from ice climbing to pulling out from an exploding building by a rope attached to a passing helicopter ''' will push gamers to their limits.[24]
Fortunately, it makes for some fun gameplay." "When I first signed on with CAA, (his agent Larry Shapiro, since departed to become president of Oddworld Inhabitants) threw a copy of The Sims and a copy of Call of Duty 2 at me across a conference table and I went home and they sat around awhile. Then I picked up the copy of Call of Duty 2 and started playing it and I wasn't doing much of anything, it was before I started NCIS and I called up Larry and said were you serious about this writing video games? How does that work? Next thing you know I was in a meeting with the guys on Call of Duty 4."[47] All of which seem to be useful, especially the Supply Drop. I can't count how many times in Call of Duty 4 I was spraying bullets into the air and ran out of ammo (trust me, I am that good).[58]
I think Activision needs to take a cue from Naughty Dog, and learn how to properly make a sequel. Imagine if Activision actually gave a shit about their IP's like ND does? Instead they just slap together an annual release, maybe through in some plastic peripherals for good measure, and then call it a day.[13] Nothing overpowered, nothing to allow too much of an advantage, just something to make the battle more hectic and chaotic. They can only target and fire on one player in a span of 7 seconds, and do not hunt down players like the dogs in WaW. They would have slightly increased damage resistance, can utilize cover and can announce the position of enemy players. After 30-40 seconds, the soldiers would respond to a distress call of their own and retreat from the map.[54] A great storey and natural scene progress really helps to engross the gamer, it really feels like you are becoming a key player in a major war.[39] The thing about console gamers is, they don't have a voice like Eddie here does.[4] You also have developers like Bioware which put out inferior console versions (Dragon Age). No, it's not dead.[30] You could probably buy all three consoles in a year or two easy peasy. (Depends on living situation obv) Then you'll just end up buying the superior versions anyway; making the idea of a Wii version even more pointless.[5] Well the Wii isn't as far behind the other two consoles graphically that others think.[7]

Thank god they've finally given up on the wii. now they have more time to patch up the 360 and ps3 versions. [9] They are saying this as an excuse to why the Wii version looks so bad. They made it look bad, not the wii.[9]
The wii's pointer controlls always made perfect sense to me with shooters. It's a shame the graphics can't deliver, and our expectations are so low for the system.[10] To say it can't delirver cinematic experiences isn't entirely true. It's really just limited to how much the dev is dependent on graphics, HD, flashiness.[10] As gaming standards in cinematic experiences rise, so do the standards of the developers. Damn they shoulda told me earlier I was living a lie thinking that SMG, MP series, Madworld and such were giving me a "cinematic" experience. Pffft it's just Lazy devs.[5]

The new trailer seemingly shows off every last bit of frenzied mayhem gamers will experience in next week's shooter. [42] Learn the new paradigm in disaster tolerance'''protect data anywhere. Download a free 30day trial and experience how XenDesktop delivers a pristine, ondemand desktop experience to users on whatever device they choose, while cutting IT complexity and costs.[41]
The sequel to last year'''s campy cooperative zombie shooter is promising to deliver a new setting, a more cohesive narrative, new weapons and more freakish ghouls to kill or be killed by. Four new characters will be forced to stick together or get torn to bits as they make their way across the infected Deep South from Savannah, Georgia, to New Orleans. '''I like that they'''re adding a lot of different melee weapons,''' Jackson said.[24] OK, we are training ourselves to think like terrorists or like the other side. And, at the same time, we could come around and think about how do you counter that and how do you take on somebody who is using those motivations and thinking that way.[47]
I.E.D. Perk Unfortunately this is a commonly used acronym these days with the war overseas, that stands for Improvised Explosive Device. Its generally disguised by looking like a commonly placed thing or piece of trash along the side of a road that can be remotely activated. The perk sounds like a claymore, right? Well it would sorta be like a claymore, except its disguised to look like a normal something on the map and in turn of the disguise, it does less damage than the claymore. but on top of some damage it blows up a lot of dirt around it like a combo claymore/smoke bomb.[54] I won't say that PC gamers have no right to be upset about this, but it doesn't personally affect me.[30] The simple fact is that when a developer does a good PC port, it is much better then the Console equivalent. The reason this is so insulting is that CoD4 was a perfect PC port with all the features that the PC crowd wanted.[30] You just lost my second buy on the PC. Love you guys but you are really blowing it with the PC this year. good luck.[32] I really think IW has given up on life, and is thinking about jumping off a bridge. Good thing Valve and Dice aren't douch'bags and value their customers.[30]
I just really hope the servers dont completely blow out like they did when MW 1 came out. That was shitty.[30]

Psychological Warfare: Allows you to place an mp3 player with speakers on a wall, to play gunfire and footstep sounds, so that the enemy can hear it. [54] The software has great latency tolerance." This is important hearsay since this doesn't only apply to the PC version, but also the copies that will ship on all platforms.[45]
